The Range – Rayman (Single)
25 July |

Portland, Oregon label Dropping Gems has respectfully carved out a spot in the Northwest American beat scene, hosting releases from the likes of Natasha Kmeto, Devonwho, DJAO and more. I’m particularly a fan of their well rounded compilations that showcase music from members of the label, as well as talented friends and peers. Such is the case with their forthcoming Gem Drops Four compilation, which will feature music from The Range, Pixelord, Braxton/Palmer, Time Wharp, M. Constant and many more. I decided to pluck the Range’s contribution after Spin premiered it earlier this week. Head below to stream Rayman and preorder Gem Drops Four ahead of its July 29th elease.

Preorder: Dropping Gems – Gem Drops Four (Compilation)

Bonus: Natasha Kmeto – Last Drop (Single)

Deniro Farrar – Notice (Video)

Check out the latest offering from Charlotte rapper Dinero Farrar. It comes in the form of a new video for Notice, a cut from his Rebirth EP that was released earlier this year. The Motion Family directed clip finds Deniro walking the streets of his hometown on a hot summer day. Head below to pick up Rebirth for just a couple bucks.

B. Lewis – Haystacks (Single)
23 July |

Check out a new one from San Jose producer B. Lewis, who’s been relatively quiet as of late. New single Haystacks is a groovy, synth heavy tune that I’m classifying as “hyperactive R&B” until further notice. Listen below until B. Lewis decides to share more quality music from his stash.

Corey Grand ft. MAZ – Alchemy (Single)
22 July |

With a new EP in the works, Cleveland producer Corey Grand has unveiled a new single today with help from Live For The Funk. Alchemy channels some serious late night summer vibes that perfectly compliment the soft, distant vocals of Cleveland songstress MAZ. First Miranda Moon, now this? I’m officially excited for Grand’s Bathed In Light EP, which is due out later this summer on Long Division Recordings.

Squadda B – Side A/Side B (July) EP
22 July |

Following his Side A/Side B (June) EP from last month, Squadda B returns with a new installment for July featuring three new songs. The Side A/Side B (July) EP features production from SWTBRDS Al Jieh, in addition to a self produced bonus track from Squadda. The entire EP can be streamed/downloaded in full below. I have a hunch that 808′s III season is fast approaching too. Stay tuned.

LNIGT will be widely available on August 12th via Long Division Recordings.

Too Future Vol. 1 – Dpat live in Chicago (Photos)
16 July |

Over the weekend I attended Too Future Vol. 1 at Hard Rock Cafe Chicago. Presented by In the Loop Productions, the event featured a stacked lineup, including Dpat, Atu, Penthouse Penthouse, Aztek, Flamingosis and Cofresi. It turned out to be a really fun night full of great music and positive vibes. In particular, Houston producer Dpat’s set struck me with his new live band consisting of drums, guitar and a keyboard. Photographer Michael Salisbury captured a few choice photos from the show, which can be seen below. Be sure to check out Too Future Vol. 2 featuring Esta., Cofresi and more at Beauty Bar on August 22nd.

Glass Animals – Love Lockdown (Kanye West Cover)
15 July |

I saw Glass Animals live at the Empty Bottle last week and they blew my mind. For those who don’t know, Glass Animals are a UK four piece whose sound falls somewhere between funk, hip-hop and electronic, but cannot be precisely pinpointed. They played through standouts Gooey, Pools and the rest of their solid debut album, before playing an awesome cover of Love Lockdown from Kanye’s 808s & Heartbreak album. Today they liberated the proper version of their cover, which is set to appear on their Pools EP coming out on July 21st. Grab Glass Animals Zaba LP through the link below in the meantime.

Chet Faker & GoldLink – On You (Single)
15 July |

The latest product of the Yours Truly and adidas originals Songs From Scratch series is On You, a collaborative single between Melbourne singer/songwriter Chet Faker and Washington D.C. rapper GoldLink. Chet Faker steals the show on this one with his jazzy production and soulful vocals, while GoldLink lays down a verse and respectfully holds his own. Stream On You and watch a video from their studio session below.
