KOR Presents: On Repeat Vol. 1 (Compilation)
16 May |

Last week when Keep On Repeat relaunched with a brand new logo, layout and mix + interview series, we mentioned there were some more surprises to come. After several months in the making, we are pumped to finally share what we have been working on this whole time. Today marks the start of our yearly compilation series that will feature all new or unreleased tracks from some of our favorite rising artists and producers. On Repeat Vol. 1 features original contributions from Ryan Hemsworth, Friendzone, Western Tink, Beautiful Lou, Deniro Farrar, Sea Things, Nem270, Zachg, Black Noi$e, BK Beats, Majical Cloudz, At Your Disposal, Ghost Noises, Tazmanian Tiger and Supreme Beats.

All 15 tracks share similar homemade, lo-fi qualities that make for a diverse, yet cohesive listening experience from start to finish. From Tink & Lou’s sluggish styrofoam cup anthem Sort ‘Em Out, to Taz Tiger’s unexpected chillwave rendition of Cheif Keef’s Save That Shit, On Repeat Vol. 1 features forward thinking individuals that deserve a whole lot more attention than they currently receive . This compilation will not only be used as a tool to open more ears, but to show that we are firmly planted behind these artists and their individual movements. Many thanks to all of the contributors and everyone that’s been rocking with KOR since the beginning. Stream, download and share On Repeat Vol. 1 below.

Alexander Spit ft. CBG – B.N.E.
18 May |

Congratulations to Alexander Spit for recently signing to the NYC-based record label Decon. In honor of the good news, he released the self-produced B.N.E. to give us an idea of what to expect on his forthcoming EP. B.N.E. features assistance from the Chill Black Guys over a dark, menacing instrumental that boasts a more vicious side of Spit that we’re not used to hearing. Listen as Spit and CBG go through the motions of a blurry late night of partying spent with models that are ready and willing. It really does sound like the best night ever.

DOPEWAVE IS REAL (Compilation)
18 May |

Flashlight Tag, Smoke Don’t Smoke, and Head Underwater are three quality, independent music blogs that got together for “an experiment in genre creation” that was “birthed out of a new group of young producers creating electronic sounds“. Sounds pretty interesting right? Each blog had to find three exclusive tracks from different producers making experimental electronic music that defies all normal genres or labels. After hearing outstanding tracks from Trap Arnold, Taquwami, Windslo and StewRat, I’d say they did a damn good job. This compilation is proof that regardless of what genre you attach to a song or artist, at the end of the day the music will speak for itself. Who cares if the meaning of Dopewave may be a bit fuzzy still, it sure as hell sounds good. Stream, download and share DOPEWAVE IS REAL below.

Genre creation will always be a fascinating process to watch. It happens everyday as the evolution of music outruns our ability to describe it“.

Baauer – Harlem Shake EP
18 May |

The man behind Harlem Shake, which is one of the most hype songs in recent memory, has finally realeased his first official EP with the help of Mad Decent’s little brother label, Jeffree’s. Brooklyn producer Baauer makes futuristic crunk music that is “influenced heavily by southern hip-hop and UK bass sounds“. Having already been tested on live mixes from the likes of Diplo, Brodinski, Flosstradamus and Rustie, it’s safe to say that this one is guaranteed to fuck the party up. Turn up your speakers and head below to stream/download Harlem Shake along with b-side Yaow!.

Skywlkr – Impressions (Compilation)
17 May |

One of our favorite midwest producers and Danny Brown’s new tour DJ just released Impressions, a beat compilation full of the instrumentals off some of our favorite projects from the past year. The compilation features beats used for Danny Brown, Boldy James, MondreM.A.N., Chip$, Squadda B, Children of The Night, Da$h, Chavis Chandler and more. I was really glad to see Skywlkr put the instrumentals for the joints he did for XXX on here too, especially Lie4. Looking forward to hearing new music from him and Danny Brown this year (31 comin’ soon n*gga!), in addition to more beat tapes just like this. Stream/download Impressions below.

Main Attrakionz ft. Shady Blaze – Greenova To The Top
17 May |

Wednesday, which quickly became known as #GREENDAY by late afternoon, was the homie Squadda B’s birthday so Main Attrakionz and Friendzone teamed up to let loose Greenova To The Top, a new track featuring a guest verse from Shady Blaze. These guys have proved to be a winning combination over time and each new track is a noticeable step forward. On Greenova To The Top, the best duo ever channel their inner OG west coast flows to match the heavily sedated, twinkling instrumental dreamt up by Friendzone. Shady Blaze fits right in as usual and is slowly becoming one of my favorite new(ish) rappers, especially when rapping over a Friendzone beat. First Zombies On The Turf Pt. 2 and now this, it feels like we are one step closer to a joint project with all parties involved.

#GREENDAY also birthed some new music from Squadda B, like the new Ryan Hemsworth produced Stop Tryin’ ft. Pepper Boy, along with the video for We Hott from the MAz Diamond of God EP. Nothing better than seeing the Green Ova family take over the blogs for a day!

Darkside – A1 Video
17 May |

A stunning new Pomp & Clout directed visual for the Nicolas Jaar helmed Darkside project from last year. The video for A1 features a crazy desert time lapse along with footage of a strange group of hooded men trekking through the desert while the sun sets behind them. A fitting visual for a song laden with laid back, soulful vibes. Videos for A2 and A3 would be very welcomed, Mr. Jaar!

Motion Picture Actress – True
15 May |

We featured Brisbane’s Motion Picture Actress earlier this year when Silo Arts released his chilled debut Natural Ghost EP for free. One of our favorite new blogs, Portals, recently had the chance to interview MPA and dig a little deeper to find out the influences behind his first EP, the current state of electronic music in Brisbane and more. They even managed to get a hold of True, a brand new track that you can stream and download below. While still managing to evoke that rainy day vibe that was present through out Natural Ghost, True introduces a more upbeat, glitchy aspect that represents the steady maturation of MAP’s experimental sound.

Tomas Barfod – Broken Glass (Shlohmo Remix)
15 May |

Producer/DJ Tomas Barfod of Denmark is the newest addition to the Friends of Friends Music family and is gearing up for the release of his debut album Salton Sea, which will be available on May 22nd. In anticipation of the album, FoF Music released the Broken Glass EP, featuring title track and b-side Beach Party, along with remixes from Jacob Korn and label mate Shlohmo. As stunning as the original is when paired with it’s strangely beautiful visual (below), Shlohmo’s remix takes the song to new heights. From his signature screwed vocal effects, to the hyperactive drum sounds, Shlohmo takes this one to another planet and back in just under seven minutes. Needless to say, FoF Music continues to introduce extremely talented and exciting new artists that are taking electronic music to unforeseen territory. You can pick up Barfod’s Broken Glass EP HERE and preorder his Salton Sea LP below.

Danny Brown – Detroit State of Mind (Documentary)
15 May |

Pretty psyched that Pitchfork TV followed Danny Brown around his hometown of Linwood through out the month of February and turned it into a free 20 minute documentary. The film features Danny traveling through out Detroit to kick it with his parents, perform at the Dilla Day celebration, record a few guest verses and more. It briefly captures what it’s like to be in the shoes of this uniquely talented individual and it really makes me want to kick it with Danny Brown even more. Down below is a little bonus download for the ridiculous Ryan Hemsworth Donky Kong style remix of Danny Brown’s I Don’t Give A from the first Detroit State of Mind mixtape.

Night Works – I Tried So Hard (Gold Panda Remix)
14 May |

Previously known as the bassist for Metronomy, Gabriel Stebbings has ventured on a solo journey under the name Night Works and is set to release his debut later this year on Loose Lips Records. Having already released the moody first single, I Tried So Hard, along with a matching visual (below), it was only a matter of time before it got the official remix treatment. In addition to the drum heavy remix from NZCA Lines, the groovy downtempo single was transformed into a face-melting minimal house jam thanks to the expertise of Gold Panda. In typical fashion, he completely disassembles the original track, leaving the remnants there for you to pick up and piece back together. The best part of all is that it’s available for free download below.

Quelle Chris – Jock Sin Six Mixtape
14 May |

It can be difficult to keep up with Detroit producer Quelle Chris’ output, but it’s easy to recognize his talent and unique approach to making beats in an era of digital bedroom producers. All of his projects seem to have a distinct direction or a theme, coming off as a more thought out, put together project compared to a bunch of old beats rounded up for a last minute release. His new Jock Sin Six mixtape sounds like a psychadelic hip-hop acid trip from 20 years ago. Packed with synth heavy beats and outlandish voice samples, Chris shows another creative side of his colorful producer jacket that helps make him stick out in a crowded room. Now if only someone could explain to me why he stopped making beats for Danny Brown….

Stream and purchase Jock Sin Six below.
