Meet Danny London, a 23 year old singer/songwriter from Cleveland whose soulful R&B music leans more towards the jazzier side of things. Known for his frequent collaborations with Cleveland rapper Treazon, London is switching the focus to his own music as he puts the finishing touches on his debut album, Finding Harmony, set for a late summer release. I’ve had the privilege of hearing a good portion of the album and I am excited for the rest of the world to hear it. For now, listen to London’s latest single, Hey Hey, which was produced by Freeze-Tag and is a good indication of what to expect from the rest of the LP.

KOR Mix

It’s been a few months since our last guest mix and for that, I apologize. The good news is that the mix series is back on track with our sixth guest from Boston by way of Cleveland producer Urbindex. Coming off the release of his debut EP, Symmetrics B, the talented beat maker also runs the recently spawned digital label, Alloy-X, which has housed releases for newcomers like Ghost Noises, Smoke Screen, Broken Keys, NoFee and more. Miguel – Do You… (Cashmere Cat Remix)
26 April | | downloads

Ever since I witnessed Cashmere Cat drop his Miguel rework for the first time live at the LFTF SXSW day party in Austin, I have been fiending for the real thing. A low quality radio rip from the LuckyMe x Rinse FM show hosted by Eclair Fifi & The Blessings surfaced the following week but it still wasn’t enough. Well over a month later, we finally got our paws on the official CDQ version of his Do You… remix and it was well worth the wait. Stream and download Cashmere Cat’s massive remix below and try not to fall in love with it.

Western Tink & Beautiful Lou – Drawn (Video)
25 April | | downloads

With help from director French Films, Tink and Lou bring album cut Drawn to life in the second video from their joint mixtape. Drawn is the closest thing to a love song you’ll find on Mobbin’ No Sobbin’ but don’t get it twisted, this track is far from soft. In fact, this is one of the grimiest beats on the tape, which is saying a lot when Lou is behind the boards. MNS is still available for streaming/download below for those of you that are about that life.

Starring Dazia Moore and directed by Anthony Supreme, Good Girl is a more in depth look into Deniro’s personal life outside of the music. Black Noi$e – $$$ EP
22 April | | downloads

I’ve paid close attention to Detroit producer Rob Mansel, aka Black Noi$e, since he contributed a track to our On Repeat Vol. 1 compilation about a year ago. The young producer has made beats for a laundry list of upcoming rappers, including credits with Children of the Night, World’s Fair, Deniro Farrar, Boldy James, Aaron Cohen and more. He is also a member of the Potholes Music roster, who recently assisted with the release of $$$, his first official project under the label. The five track EP features all new material, plus a guest appearance from fellow label mate Jay Cue. Stream $$$ and name your price for the EP via the link below to get a better idea of just how versatile Black Noi$e is.

Mr. Carmack – Birth Control/Hopscotch EP
19 April | | downloads

I’ve been gushing about Hawaii’s Mr. Carmack for a while now and it seems he’s finally getting the recognition he deserves. Back in February he was invited out to San Francisco to play at the legendary Low End Theory alongside Djemba Djemba, Daddy Kev, Nocando, Nobody and more. Last week saw the release of Carmack’s first official project, a double sided single on Mad Decent’s sister imprint, Jeffree’s. Birth Control and Hopscotch both exemplify the fusion of forward thinking electronic music and classic hip hop beats that Carmack’s been making for years now, but with a tad bit more sheen to them. Both tracks can be streamed and downloaded in full below, and if thats not enough, entertain yourself with the idea of an official Mr. Carmack x Ginuwine collaboration after a photo of them in the studio surfaced a few days ago. Our fingers are crossed!

Young Scooter – Colombia (Shlohmo Remix)
19 April | | downloads

Young Scooter can make cocaine. But Shlohmo can make some of the dopest remixes around. Such is the case with his most recent, a melodic, downtempo remix of Scooter’s street anthem, Colombia. There was a low quality radio rip floating around for a couple weeks but the official CDQ has been liberated by Shlohmo himself and can be streamed/downloaded below.

Deniro Farrar & BSBD – Just In Case The World Ends (Grown Folk Remix)
19 April | | downloads

Rising Montreal production duo Grown Folk have proven to be extremely versatile when it comes to their production. After cooking up a few lo-fi, cloudy hip-hop beats for the Main Attrakionz last album, Brendan and Drew went on to release more forward thinking, house influenced tunes through the San Francisco based Icee Hot label. Most recently, the duo put their atmospheric touch on Deniro Farrar’s Just In Case The World Ends, a cut from his joint EP with BSBD. Expect more new music from Grown Folk soon and stream/download their heavily sedated Deniro Farrar remix below.

Freeze-Tag – Eskimo (Live Session)
17 April | | downloads

A few months ago, we invited Marcus Alan Ward aka Freeze-Tag to Taxidermy Studios in Akron to film a live studio session in anticipation of his new EP. With last week marking the release of his Eskimo EP, we felt it was an appropriate time to share the live video for the EP’s title track. Special thanks goes out to Ben Patrick & Will Cardina (Taxidermy Studios), Brad Puette (Engineer) and Brian Devers (Videographer) for all their help. Keep an eye out for more videos from the live session down the road and download Freeze-Tag’s Eskimo EP below if you haven’t already.

Freeze-Tag – Eskimo EP
9 April | | downloads

It’s no secret that we hold a special place in our hearts for Cleveland native Freeze-Tag’s music. We’ve supported him since the first EP and he will be the first to tell you how far he’s come since then. Watching an artist steadily grow and create their own niche is a beautiful thing, which is why it’s such a pleasure to present Freeze-Tag’s latest, and undoubtedly most complete body of work to date. The Eskimo EP is an audio collage of leftfield sounds inspired by jazz, soul, R&B and even visual art. It features previously released singles Eskimo, Kiss, Kiss, Kiss and his cover of Little Dragon’s Twice, in addition to three brand new tracks. Fall In Love is a personal favorite, but stream/download the entire EP below and form your own opinion of Freeze-Tag’s unorthodox electronic creations.
