B. Lewis – Haystacks (Single)
23 July | | electronic

Check out a new one from San Jose producer B. Lewis, who’s been relatively quiet as of late. New single Haystacks is a groovy, synth heavy tune that I’m classifying as “hyperactive R&B” until further notice. Listen below until B. Lewis decides to share more quality music from his stash.

Corey Grand ft. MAZ – Alchemy (Single)
22 July | | electronic

With a new EP in the works, Cleveland producer Corey Grand has unveiled a new single today with help from Live For The Funk. Alchemy channels some serious late night summer vibes that perfectly compliment the soft, distant vocals of Cleveland songstress MAZ. First Miranda Moon, now this? I’m officially excited for Grand’s Bathed In Light EP, which is due out later this summer on Long Division Recordings.

Over the weekend I attended Too Future Vol. 1 at Hard Rock Cafe Chicago. Presented by In the Loop Productions, the event featured a stacked lineup, including Dpat, Atu, Penthouse Penthouse, Aztek, Flamingosis and Cofresi. It turned out to be a really fun night full of great music and positive vibes. In particular, Houston producer Dpat’s set struck me with his new live band consisting of drums, guitar and a keyboard. Photographer Michael Salisbury captured a few choice photos from the show, which can be seen below. Be sure to check out Too Future Vol. 2 featuring Esta., Cofresi and more at Beauty Bar on August 22nd.

Glass Animals – Love Lockdown (Kanye West Cover)
15 July | | electronic

I saw Glass Animals live at the Empty Bottle last week and they blew my mind. For those who don’t know, Glass Animals are a UK four piece whose sound falls somewhere between funk, hip-hop and electronic, but cannot be precisely pinpointed. They played through standouts Gooey, Pools and the rest of their solid debut album, before playing an awesome cover of Love Lockdown from Kanye’s 808s & Heartbreak album. Today they liberated the proper version of their cover, which is set to appear on their Pools EP coming out on July 21st. Grab Glass Animals Zaba LP through the link below in the meantime.

Chet Faker steals the show on this one with his jazzy production and soulful vocals, while GoldLink lays down a verse and respectfully holds his own. Stream On You and watch a video from their studio session below.
