The Range – Rayman (Single)
25 July | | instrumental

Portland, Oregon label Dropping Gems has respectfully carved out a spot in the Northwest American beat scene, hosting releases from the likes of Natasha Kmeto, Devonwho, DJAO and more. I’m particularly a fan of their well rounded compilations that showcase music from members of the label, as well as talented friends and peers. Such is the case with their forthcoming Gem Drops Four compilation, which will feature music from The Range, Pixelord, Braxton/Palmer, Time Wharp, M. Constant and many more. I decided to pluck the Range’s contribution after Spin premiered it earlier this week. Head below to stream Rayman and preorder Gem Drops Four ahead of its July 29th elease.

Preorder: Dropping Gems – Gem Drops Four (Compilation)

Bonus: Natasha Kmeto – Last Drop (Single)

B. Lewis – Haystacks (Single)
23 July | | instrumental

Check out a new one from San Jose producer B. Lewis, who’s been relatively quiet as of late. New single Haystacks is a groovy, synth heavy tune that I’m classifying as “hyperactive R&B” until further notice. Listen below until B. Lewis decides to share more quality music from his stash.

Over the weekend I attended Too Future Vol. 1 at Hard Rock Cafe Chicago. Presented by In the Loop Productions, the event featured a stacked lineup, including Dpat, Atu, Penthouse Penthouse, Aztek, Flamingosis and Cofresi. It turned out to be a really fun night full of great music and positive vibes. In particular, Houston producer Dpat’s set struck me with his new live band consisting of drums, guitar and a keyboard. Photographer Michael Salisbury captured a few choice photos from the show, which can be seen below. Be sure to check out Too Future Vol. 2 featuring Esta., Cofresi and more at Beauty Bar on August 22nd.

These songs come from artists all around the world and have absolutely no label involvement, blog premieres or A&R interference whatsoever. The latest installment in Ryan’s SS’s series is The Battlecry, a new single from versatile Ohio producer Druid Cloak. I also threw in Druid Cloak’s remix of Weird Life as a bonus for you to stream/download below.

Mister Lies – Flood You/Medusa (Singles)
1 July | | instrumental

New York via Chicago producer Mister Lies is preparing to release a new LP later this year and decided to share two new songs to hold us over until then. While Flood You/Medusa will not appear on his forthcoming album, they still exist in the same realm. Intricately layered electronic tunes with skittering percussion and unrecognizable vocal samples that blend together to form a beautiful mess. Stream/download the two singles below and expect Mister Lies Shadow album to release on Orchid Tapes in October.
