Tapes – Songs To Drake Up To (Mixtape)
10 December | | instrumental

Originally from Knoxville, DJ/producer Tapes now resides in Columbus and makes chilled-out electronic music reminiscent of Giraffage, Sango, and IAMNOBODI. His polished album Finding, which was self released back in August, was a strong sign that Tapes deserves more attention. Then in November he released Songs To Drake Up To, a short mixtape that drew inspiration from a recent break up, Ta-Ku’s Songs To Break Up To EP, and of course, Drake. Just like Ta-Ku and Drake’s music served as a coping mechanism for him, Tapes hopes others will use his music as a form of therapy. Head below to stream/download Songs To Drake Up To in its entirety.

Giraffage – Tell Me (Video)
9 December | | instrumental

Giraffage just dropped what may be the strangest video of 2014. The visual for Tell Me features a pile of donuts and other assorted junk food, along with a bunch of dogs that turn into humans and start doing weird shit. Pretty suitable video for the “chopped up electro pop jam“, which can be found on Giraffage’s recently released No Reason EP.

Montreal producer Pomo’s HW&W Recordings debut has been a long time coming and it was well worth the wait. His The Other Day EP dropped earlier this week and it’s full of funky, jazzed out instrumentals that will make you forget winter is even coming. The only features across the eight tracks come from vocalist Andrea Cormier and HW&W label mate Kaytranada, who co-produced the synthed-out Cherry Funk. A Billion Young – Glenwood (Mixtape)
18 November | | instrumental

It’s never easy to choose what to write about on Tuesdays, especially with so many great new releases this week in particular. To kick things off I decided to feature Glenwood, the latest release from Chicago production duo A Billion Young. Their unique blend of hip-hop, glitchy electronic and break beat music makes for an interesting combination through out the 14 track mixtape. Glenwood features guest appearances from a few new faces, including Teddy Jackson, Will Miller, Carter Lang and Miko. Get familiar with this talented bunch of artists through the streaming/download link below.

Mura Masa – Soundtrack To A Death (Album)
17 November | | instrumental

English producer Alex Crossan makes beats under the name Mura Masa. While some have already compared him to Hudson Mohawke and Cashmere Cat, I confidently put Mura Masa in a lane of his own after hearing his debut LP on Jakarta Records. The 14-track album features all original instrumentals, most of which feature thunderous bass lines paired with rhythmic, worldly sounds such as flutes, bells and other unconventional percussion. When asked who he would like to rap over his beats in a recent interview with Pigeons & Planes, Mura Masa listed Kendrick Lamar. Just take a minute to imagine that. I have included the official video for …Girl, along with the link to purchase a copy of Soundtrack To A Funeral below.
