KOR Mix 06 – Urbindex

KOR Mix

It’s been a few months since our last guest mix and for that, I apologize. The good news is that the mix series is back on track with our sixth guest from Boston by way of Cleveland producer Urbindex. Coming off the release of his debut EP, Symmetrics B, the talented beat maker also runs the recently spawned digital label, Alloy-X, which has housed releases for newcomers like Ghost Noises, Smoke Screen, Broken Keys, NoFee and more. Within Urbindex’s mix lies a heap of exclusive material and unreleased remixes you won’t find anywhere else. For all my bass heads out there, bask in 48 minutes of hard hitting, broken beats below and look out for the next release on Alloy-X, Black Sand Beach, from producer Broken Keys out on May 17th.

Valentine’s Day Music Roundup
14 February | | mix

It’s that one day of the year you get to spoil the person (or people) you love the most with over the top flowers, cheesy cards, candy and all that jazz. It’s also that one day of the year that artists and producers decide to giveaway a ton of music in the form of mixtapes, remixes and free downloads. Since I kept seeing so much quality music popping up through out the day, I decided to compile it all into one big Valentine’s Day post for readers to skim through and enjoy at their leisure. Head below for heaps of free music from MORRI$ & Sweater Beats, Sam Tiba, Jessie Ware, Sines, Kastle, Hudson Mohawke, Blu, Machinedrum, DJ Sober, Henry Krinkle, Lindsay Lowend, Julio Bashmore, Jaw Jam, Onra and more. Whether you use these tunes later on tonight in the bedroom, or to drown yourself in depression because you’re all alone, enjoy!

Jacques Greene – Quicksand
22 January | | mix

Jacques Greene just dropped off Quicksand, a dense new tune that was first featured in his excellent mix for The FADER a few weeks ago. Doesn’t it sound like he sampled Birthday Suit, one of The Weeknd’s old demos from a few years ago? Nonetheless, Quicksand is a solid indication of what we can look forward to hearing from Greene in 2013.

KOR Mix 05 – Druid Cloak
11 December | | mix

Let me start by apologizing for the abnormally long delay between guest mixes. We attempted to iron out some legal issues with the mix Dead Times made for us months ago but unfortunately we weren’t able to work things out in a timely matter. Hopefully you understand and will eventually get to hear their mix, but there’s no sense in crying over spilled milk. I’m excited to announce that the fifth installment in our guest mix series was done by Druid Cloak, an Ohio based electronic producer who is about to close the book on an exciting year.

From his debut EP, The Grove, which was released through Kastle’s newfound Symbols Recordings, to a slew of high profile remixes for the likes of The XX, Sweater Beats and Cashmere Cat, Druid Cloak has been working hard to build a unique audio landscape of his own. With a track to be featured on San Francisco based Hot N’ Heavy Recordings forthcoming Destinations Volume 2 compilation and a slot supporting RL Grime in Columbus in January, Druid Cloak is setting up what looks to be an even bigger 2013. If the mix below is any indication, the man has a keen ear for sounds of the future and we couldn’t be happier he was willing to share them with us. Check out the tracklist and listen to Druid Cloak’s 56 minute original mix below.

Bo$$k – Rich

We’re happy he decided to let this one loose and while it’s only available for streaming at the moment, Rich will be downloadable very soon.

Deadboy – Halloween MMXII Mix
31 October | | mix

For the third year in a row, London producer Deadboy drops off his coveted Halloween mix, best described as “the dystopian nightmare where heavily bearded disco svengalis, codeine addled rappers and unbalanced london grime producers are stalking you on the night bus home“. Pretty accurate considering the 42 minute mix is packed with everything from lo-fi Memphis rap classics to new wave UK Grime anthems. Yet another high quality mix free of charge in exchange for your e-mail address.

Josh Mace – Autumn Mix
1 October | | mix

If you had the chance to come out to one of our Basement Dance Parties at The Spot this year then you already know the homie Josh Mace goes in during his live DJ sets. Following the release of Total Loss, one of the strongest (sophomore) albums of the year, Tom Krell aka How To Dress Well was called on by FACT Magazine to participate in their weekly mix series.
