A Billion Young – Glenwood (Mixtape)
18 November | | mixtape

It’s never easy to choose what to write about on Tuesdays, especially with so many great new releases this week in particular. To kick things off I decided to feature Glenwood, the latest release from Chicago production duo A Billion Young. Their unique blend of hip-hop, glitchy electronic and break beat music makes for an interesting combination through out the 14 track mixtape. Glenwood features guest appearances from a few new faces, including Teddy Jackson, Will Miller, Carter Lang and Miko. Get familiar with this talented bunch of artists through the streaming/download link below.

A Billion Young ft. Teddy Jackson – Next Door (Video)
12 November | | mixtape

Snapotorious and Kun make up rising Chicago production unit, A Billion Young. Having produced for local talent like Towkio, Leather Corduroys, Brain Fresco and more, the duo is preparing to release their next project, Glenwood. A few weeks back, ABY unveiled the Verluxe-directed video for their latest single, Next Door, featuring guest vocals from Teddy Jackson. With Glenwood slated for a November 18th release, I’ve included ABY’s previous single, Day And Night, to hold you over until then.

Swim Team – Swim Team Trax 1 (Compilation)
6 November | | mixtape

New York based collective Swim Team is an interesting crew, made up of mainly producers, including Color Plus, AceMo, Lord $M$, Daddy AOL, Rambow, DJ LILMATT, Kanyon, and rapper Izy. While most of them have at least one solo release under their belt, the rest have a collection of loosies and lengthy mixes stored on Soundcloud. It wasn’t until earlier this week that the whole Swim Team crew came together for their first compilation, Swim Team Trax 1. The 10 track release, which features predominately new music from the entire crew, is available for free download below. Hit the link to grab a copy of Swim Team Trax 1 on cassette before it’s too late.

Over the weekend, Parisian producer Stwo released a collection of instrumentals “inspired by Drake’s Nothing Was The Same album” in the form of a mixtape. The eight tracks, labeled Ninety Two, are available for free download via the link below. While you’re at it, sample a few of the beats Stwo thinks “could be a great fit with Drake on them”, including standout Morphans, which sounds like the lost b-side to Connect.
