FWDSLXSH – Yellow (Single)
27 August | | music

While London based producer and Soulection affiliate FWDSLXSH is busy working on his debut EP, Hypetrak got the go ahead to premiere the first single, Yellow. The slow burning, Goapele-sampling tune captures that chill-summer-evening-spent-by-the-pool vibe and the timing couldn’t be better. Give Yellow a listen below and stay tuned for FWDSLXSH’s forthcoming EP, The Fall, which is expected to drop later this year.

Premiere: Father ft. iLoveMakonnen & Key! – Look At Wrist (Urbindex Remix)
26 August | | music

Boston’s Urbindex has been recruited for an official remix of Atlanta rapper/producer Father’s recent street anthem, Look At Wrist. With the original guest verses from Key! and iLoveMakonnen still intact, Urbindex adds an extra crunchy bass line and other quirky mechanical sound effects to make the beat pop that much more. From Cleveland, to Atlanta and back to Boston, don’t be surprised if you hear this one busting up the speakers in a club near you.

Computer Jay & Orfeo – Standards EP
26 August | | music

Two talented L.A. based musicians, Computer Jay and Orfeo, have come together for a short EP of cover songs. I first heard their take on Andre 3000′s Prototype a few months back and fell in love. It turns out that track helped birth their new EP, Standards, which was premiered exclusively over at Okayfuture a few weeks ago. The EP features five tracks in total, including completely reworked covers of Little Dragon, Portishead, Smashing Pumpkins and Erykah Badu. Computer Jay rehashed all of the instrumentals, while Orfeo slayed the vocals throughout. Best of all, you can download Computer Jay & Orfeo’s entire EP for free down below.

23 August | | music

MondreM.A.N. keeps things lo-fi in his latest video for new single, Why Oh Why. Stationed on the beach somewhere in the bay with Shady Blaze behind the lens, Mondre previews new solo material that you can expect to hear ahead of the release of the Main Attrakionz highly anticipated 808′s III album.

Skin Town – Midnight Lover (Video)
21 August | | music

The long awaited video for L.A. duo Skin Town’s kick ass single Midnight Lover is finally here. The visual, which was premiered over at Pigeons & Planes the other day, was shot on an iPhone and edited by Grace Hall and Nick Turco themselves. Midnight Lover is taken from Skin Town’s debut LP, The Room, which is out now via Time No Place.

Dre Green – Only One EP
20 August | | music

I’ve been waiting on the first release from The-Drum’s Lo Motion imprint and couldn’t think of a better way to kick things off than with Dre Green’s debut EP. The seven track Only One is filled with distant R&B songs, with experimental production provided by The-Drum, Hawaiian Gardens, The GTW and Supreme Cuts. While Dre’s music should be reserved for a cold, quiet winter night alone, I highly suggest listening to it as soon as possible. Get more insight into Dre’s music via her recent interview with Noisey.

Gorgeous Children – Howedoit (Single)
18 August | | music

It’s good to hear from Gorgeous Children again. Based on new single Howedoit, Face Vega and Gila Monsta haven’t missed a step since their last outing. The Fader premiered their sinister new single today, which boasts a beat worthy of a Bun B verse in my opinion. With minimal details on GC’s future plans, all you really need to know is that this one hits. Stream Howedoit below.

Mishka Presents: W2NDCH2LL – Heat Wave/Beach Season (Double Mixtape)
18 August | | music

A few months ago, the folks over at Mishka released WindChill: A Chicago Instrumental Experience, an instrumental project showcasing a handful of talented, Chicago based producers. The response from the first release was so overwhelming they followed it up with a two part mixtape this time, featuring a batch of 32 new producers. The tape is split into two sides: Heat Wave, featuring more old school soul-sampling beats, and Beach Season, featuring more chilled out summer ready beats. Dive in and discover new music from rising producers like BlackKat, OnGaud, Nate Fox, Mulatto Beats, Papi Beatz, Benny Nice, Netherfriends, Walkingshoe and so many more. Head below to stream/download both sides via LiveMixtapes. Props to Ben (@neonpajamas) for handpicking the artists and putting this together.

Fitzroy x STWO – NOIMSAYN (Single)
16 August | | music

Parisian producers Fitzroy and STWO have already made a handful of really great beats together and today they can add another one to their list. Loose single NOIMSAYN is a mellowed out edit that these two made on the late night tip. More proof that the world would be a better place if a Fitzroy x STWO EP eventually existed. Head below to stream NOIMSAYN, along with a new solo track STWO released earlier this week.

Saint Pepsi – Fall Harder (Single)
15 August | | music

Listen to Fall Harder, the b-side from Saint Pepsi’s Carpark Records debut. The funky single follows the excellent Fiona Coyne, which first introduced us to Saint Pepsi’s singing voice and now I can’t get enough. His Fiona Coyne/Fall Harder 7″ came out earlier this week and can be purchased through the link below.

Marcus Alan Ward – Last Night I Grew Tentacles (Album)
15 August | | music

There really isn’t much left for me to say about Marcus Alan Ward at this point. Having worked closely with him since the inception of his musical career as Freeze-Tag, he has come a long way as an artist and this only feels like the tip of the iceberg. With assistance from The Fader, Last Night I Grew Tentacles was introduced to the world in the form of a single track stream, allowing listeners to digest the record the way MAW intended. Clocking in at just under an hour in length, LNIGT is a soulful journey through the mind of one extremely creative individual. Reminiscent of the soundtrack to a twisted 1960′s Sci-Fi film, you can almost visualize the sounds heard through out LNIGT, as if there was a projector pointing to the stars. Turn the lights down low and see what happens. Trust me.

Stream Last Night I Grew Tentacles in full below and hit the link to purchase a digital and/or physical copy of the album.
