After hearing NYC producer Eaves on the very first Futures Collective compilation back in summer of 2013, I knew dude was talented. Fast forward to 2015 and Eaves is preparing to release his first official EP via Seattle-based Hush Hush Records with a song premiere on Dummy Mag. The title track, Hue, is an usual instrumental that infuses elements of juke/footwork and left field hip-hop, resulting in a sound unique to Eaves’ music. Through a premiere from Billboard, Portland based Shy Girls unveiled a new tune from his forthcoming mixtape, 4WZ. Titled Right, Alright, the sultry, bass-heavy single finds him sticking to what worked so well on his Timeshare EP from 2013. Expect Shy Girls’ 4WZ mixtape to drop “any day now” with contributions from Rome Fortune Tei Shi, Antwon and more.

Marvel Alexander – Don’t Die Yet (Mixtape)

Los Angeles rapper/producer/engineer Marvel Alexander continues to pop up more frequently after lending production to A$AP Ferg’s single, Shabba, followed by a collaboration with Penthouse Penthouse and credits on A$AP Ferg’s Ferg Forever tape. Then I learned about his latest release, Don’t Die Yet, which dropped unexpectedly the other day. Marvel not only raps throughout the whole tape, he also produced a couple joints alongside beats by Kaytranada, Gravez, Sango, BBNG and more. In addition, Wiki (Ratking), Michael Christmas, Hodgy Beats, Louie P (The Celestics) and D.R.A.M. contribute guest verses, making for one of the most exciting new rap releases in recent memory Head below to stream/download Don’t Die Yet and expect to hear more from Marvel sooner than later.
